At ACRA, good governance is at the core of how we operate. We are guided by a clear, constitutionally mandated structure that ensures inclusive decision-making, transparency, and accountability to all our members and stakeholders.
Our leadership is comprised of an Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and General Meeting of members — all working together to steer the organization toward its mission of climate resilience and community empowerment.
ACRA’s structure includes the following key office bearers:
Serves as the official spokesperson of the organization
Manages all daily operations and staff
Leads strategic direction and fundraising
Responds to the demands of the General Meeting
Implements approved strategies, activities, and budgets
Mobilizes resources and monitors performance
Reports to the Board of Directors and General Meeting
Carries out legal and organizational tasks as directed
Maintains all financial records and books of account
Ensures all organizational funds are deposited and used appropriately

The Board of Directors is an advisory body that provides strategic oversight and guidance. It is composed of at least five members, appointed by the Executive Director.

ACRA upholds democratic principles through structured leadership elections:
The Executive Director and Secretary General are elected by the General Meeting
The Treasurer is appointed and approved by the General Meeting
All elected positions are held for a 5-year term, and are renewable
Renewal and re-election are done in accordance with constitutional procedures
The General Meeting is the supreme decision-making body of ACRA and includes all registered members.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Held once per year
Ordinary General Meeting – Held every 5 years
Special General Meeting – Called when necessary by the Executive Committee or members
Elect chairperson and vice-chairperson

ACRA’s governance framework ensures every member has a voice, every decision is accountable, and every leader is chosen with purpose.
